CSU Academic Senate passed two resolutions in 2021 urging faculty and campuses to avoid using facial recognition software and e-proctoring in classrooms due to privacy and equity concerns. In 2022, the CSU Chancellor's Office declined to renew its system-wide Proctorio contract, citing privacy and equity concerns.
