ProctorU responded in a December 17, 2020 letter largely dismissing senators' concerns, claiming it 'primarily uses human proctoring.' EFF subsequently called the response 'full of weasel words, misleading descriptions, and other inconsistencies.' Senator Richard Blumenthal remained skeptical. The Senate inquiry contributed to ProctorU's announcement in May 2021 that it would discontinue AI-only proctoring.
